Anecdote: External Heating Source.

A PBSA client used granular, real-time data to identify a resident using an external heater in a TRV controlled space.

See above for a graph showing space temperature before and after the site team’s intervention. External heating usage was minimised, seeing a steep drop in temperature.

Scenario.

Armed with real-time, granular data from the Utopi Platform, one PBSA client was able to identify a resident using an external heater in a TRV controlled space, and after engagement, saw a drop in temperature of 14°C.

This client had utilised Utopi’s Smart TRV energy control measures to control the average site temperature of the asset. After the maximum asset temperature was reduced to 27°C in individual spaces, a space was found to still be significantly overheated.

The site team was notified by our Impact Team of this outlier, going up to 39°C.

Resolution.

After conversations with the resident, the space temperature decreased from 39°C to 25°C within 24 hours, a decrease of 12°C.

Potential Savings:

[Where heating is concerned, savings are calculated over a 200 day heating season period.]

= £420 saved

= 4200 kWh saved

= 756 kg carbon saved
